August 15, 2005. Mystic, CT. Six adventurous women recently completed a 3-day Celestial Navigation course led by NWSA board member, Julie Teetsov.  The well organized curriculum included a classroom session and planetarium program at the Mystic Seaport, followed by two days of instruction aboard the Schooner The Mystic Whaler, with Capt. John Eginton.

Capt. John enhanced the course with a brief lesson on the history of navigation, tying much to the locale in which the Mystic Whaler was sailing

Don Treworgy, Director of the Planetarium, and his staff assisted Julie in preparing for the course.  "Don's enthusiasm and dedication to advancing women in all areas of sailing and navigation has been an inspiration to me.  My students were thrilled to be able to interact with Don on Friday," said Teetsov.

NWSA appreciates the partnership that has been developed with Capt. John and the Mystic Whaler over the past ten years.

Financial support for the course was provided by Blue Water Sailing School, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Celestaire, the largest supplier of marine sextants. (http://www.www.celestaire.com)  Blue Water Sailing School teaches in depth on-the-water courses in Celestial Navigation (http://www.bwss.com)
