NWSA President from
2004-2008, Valli has been sailing for about 25 years. She has
participated in several race weeks and blue water sailing in the Caribbean.
When sailing in local waters, Val usually can be seen on a small sloop on
the Hudson River. She has been a part of several boat deliveries, a
number from the NY Harbor to Long Island’s Mystic, Connecticut;

| a
two week challenge which delivered a 37ft Cabo Rico from Charlevoix, Michigan to
Rochester, New York; and a more recent delivery, a 42ft Hylas, with a crew
of four women which sailed from Honolulu to San Diego.
As co-coordinator of
the AdventureSail® program, Val has worked with the Board to introduce
thousands of young girls to the challenge and experience of sailing.
AdventureSail® programs have been held in California, Florida,
Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and New York.
Val was one of the boat
leader’s on NWSA’s first Women’s Flotilla in the BVI. Val coordinated the
NWSA sail in Whitsunday, Australia. A strong advocate for women to
Take the Helm, Val has skippered boats in Southwest Harbor, Maine; the
Caribbean and its many islands and Tahiti
