Valli Cook, NWSA President , has been sailing for about 20 years.  She started as crew on a 51-foot Swan.  The owner and captain sailed on the Long Island Sound.  Val’s formal sailing lessons were with Offshore Sailing School. She continues to be a member of the Offshore Sailing Club  based in Liberty Landing, New Jersey.

Val has been a part of boat deliveries from the NY Harbor to Long Island's Mystic Connecticut. She was part of a two-week challenge which delivered a 37-foot Cabo Rico from Charlevoix, Michigan, to Rochester, New York.    As co-coordinator of the AdventureSail® program, an NWSA project that introduces sailing to young girls at risk, Val has word to introduce almost 500 young girls in the New York area to the challenges of sailing.

She has participated in several race weeks and blue water sailing in the British Virgin Islands.  She was one of the boat leader’s on NWSA’s first Women’s Flotilla in the BVI and coordinator of the 2005 cruise in Australia.
